Fishing has yet to start. The committee has been working on a price agreement with the Japanese and so its taken longer than normal. It’s imminent that fishing will start up tomorrow though, in which case its time to get lots of rest and be focused.

Herring fishing will be a first for me and all the stories I have been hearing and YouTube videos I’ve seen are making me a bit anxious about this one. I’ve heard that collisions in the air and at sea are likely in this fishery. I’ve also heard that “if you play this game nice, you won’t come out a winner”. Yikes! These fishermen will literally be battling it out for the biggest catch in Herring history. I think I’d rather be a fly on the wall during all this action, however I’ll try to keep the video running.

Here is a video I found from the 2009 season on youtube which shows how congested it really gets on these fishing grounds. It looks like one big mess to me. Come the shoot out, all you see is white water and black smoke. I wonder what 2010 has in store?
