My biggest test in the skiff has come. It’s Sitka herring season. After our second opener, I have never been so challenged as a skiff woman as I was then. Maneuvering through such chaos was crazy to say the least.

Bristol Bay Boat and Chart

POINT: Kennecott didn’t kill the Copper River, so that must mean Pebble won’t kill the Nushagak and the Kvichak

Sierra and I have never aimed to act as an online news source; and frankly, we’re glad someone did!! Our hope is to present authentic, first-hand Alaskan experiences to the best of our abilities. Scoring a Bristol Bay job in 1990

This is usually how you find a job when walking the docks. Someone gets fired, hurt or has an emergency and has to go home. Two weeks of sleep deprivation, cowboy fishing and I had $10,000 cash.

Halibut Delivery in Homer

My first 24 hour Halibut opener… fairly calm water but a few boats went down from overloading. Boats always sank in those crazy, short, get as much as you can openers.
